James F. Wishart, of Pawtucket, R.I., husband of Teresa for 69 years passed into the arms of Our Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A highway designer and Registered Professional Land Surveyor for nearly 40 years, he retired from Pare Engineering in 1997. He was engaged in the designing of Route 95. He served in the U.S. Navy, as a QM2 and participated in the invasion of Inchon in the Korean War. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Pawtucket Elks Golf League, earning several yearly trophies. He belonged to Tin Can Sailors, the Warwick Lodge of Elks, the Elwood J. Euart Post VFW, the Barney Merry F&AM where he served as Worshipful Master, St. John’s Lodge #1 F&AM, the Palestine Shrine, and the Legion of Honor. A thrill seeker, he took many rides of all kinds, especially rollercoasters as a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts with over 400 coaster runs, including the Olympic bobsled run at Lake Placid. He loved spending time with his family, volunteering at the now closed St. Maria Goretti events, his breakfasts and monthly birthday parties with his SMG friends, exercising and socializing with his sons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa, his sons, James F. Wishart and his wife Maureen of Warwick, and Eric Wishart and his wife Doreen of North Kingstown, grandson, Kyle Wishart and his wife Kate of Coventry, granddaughter, Allyson Cross and her husband Alexander of Chapel Hill, N.C., great-grandsons, Max Cross and Henry Wishart, and a brother, Carlton Wishart of CT.
His adventures also included whitewater rafts, a jetboat, jet ski, parasailing, hot air balloon, airboats, helicopters, Olympic bobsleds, snowmobiles, glider plane, submarine dive, elephant ride and more.
Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 29th at 11:00 AM in the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. All those who are attending the funeral, please report directly to church in the morning. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln.
